Sauce vs. Gravy
Sauce vs. Gravy
by Erin Cafarelli
There was a big debate at Café Bocca recently. That red deliciousness made with tomatoes, garlic and fresh herbs, generally served over pasta with freshly grated Romano Cheese?! Is It SAUCE or Is It GRAVY?
Here at Café Bocca we say that gravy is something that you pour over turkey at Thanksgiving, mashed potatoes and meatloaf or a roast beef. It’s typically made with pan drippings, butter, salt and pepper.
Now sauce, TOMATO SAUCE (you don’t say Tomato Gravy, do you?!) is something we take very serious. We only use the best – Alta Cucina Tomatoes, fresh garlic, basil, salt, pepper and olive oil! We slowly simmer the sauce. That’s it. The taste? The taste is amazing. Fresh, light and classic.
Stop in and try our Penne Pomodoro, Pizza Morabito or classic Spaghetti and Meatballs! Your taste buds and your stomach will thank you!
And…You can know take home our sauce by the quart!
Hope to see you all soon for Sauce!
PS, we do serve gravy on occasion too!
Closed For A Brief Vacation
Dear All,
As the cold of winter envelopes the Hudson Valley, each year we take advantage of the beauty the North East offers. Most people seems to head South to the warm breezes of Florida, where we love visiting too. This weekend, January 18th., through Monday January 21st., we will be closed as we take a brief respite from the many long days involved in running a small business.
In the meantime, we have many exciting developments on the table, and look forward to several very important announcements coming from our little spot on Mount Carmel Place!
